Denise Demby

The  Artist

Denise Demby,  http://towersandlandarts.comhttp://931gallery.comis a contemporary abstract painter and sculptor who lives and works in Arvada, Colorado. A native of Colorado, her arid color palette and simplified industrial forms pay homage to the climate and architecture where she lives.  Her distinctive personal style emanates joy and peace floundering among a sense of precariousness and expresses the simplified reduction of basic forms of beauty in opposition to a confusing technological society.

Simplified steel and glass sculptures, color field paintings, mixed media led sculpture, and minimalist glass forms are all brought to life with quiet statement and harmonious colors in minimalist compositions. As the artist explains, “I am searching for simple beauty and I welcome you to join me on this visual journey.”

As a recipient of a scholarship from Colorado Scholars, she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Printmaking and Ceramics from Metropolitan State University in Denver Colorado. She has continued her education through various other avenues at the Art Students League and private instruction.

Demby’s  artwork has been shown in various Regional and National juried and invitational exhibitions including  Littleton Museum and Cultural Center, Curtis Art Center in Greenwood Village Colorado, Museum of Contemporary Art, Ft Collins Colorado, Museum of Fine Art Colorado Springs Colorado, Salina Arts Center, Salina Kansas, Studio Channel Islands, Camarillo California and University of Brockport, Brockport NY.

She is a member of Architecture of Form, Pirate Contemporary, Santa Fe Arts District and owner of 931 Gallery in Denver. In addition to making artwork she continues to curate art exhibits that rewards artistic excellence acting as a Juror for “The Green” show at Core New Art Space in Lakewood, and curating other invitational exhibitions such as “Expanding Modernism, The mutiny of the mediocre” for Denver Artists.
