The Artist:

Artworks investigate the fluid, ever-evolving relationship between what we see and what we know—a theme captured by John Berger's assertion that “The relation between what we see and what we know is never settled.” Our personal history, experiences, sense of self, and our present state of mind influence how we intentionally or unintentionally exist within our space and environment.

Each piece is a new iteration of my own quest to understand life, using visual elements that range from figures, to specific imagery, to abstract forms. These elements interact to create complex, layered narratives. I am interested in the way different visual signifiers communicate meaning beyond literal interpretation, using metaphorical adjacency to suggest that meaning is constantly shifting, contingent on context, and open to re-interpretation. In this way, the work challenges fixed understanding of the world and invites viewers into a space of inquiry and contemplation.

The relational dynamics between recognizable forms, abstract gestures, and subconscious, non-objective elements prompts a tension—a sense of things both present and absent. It is through this visual dissonance that I seek to evoke a longing for deeper understanding, a recognition of the limits of knowledge, and the questions that exist within our perception. The works ask not just what we see, but how we see it—and what we might be missing in the spaces between. Through this process, I invite viewers to confront their own relationships with history, identity, and the ongoing, shifting nature of truth and understanding.
